Establishment
The Gerontology Department was established by letter dated 06.04.2020 and numbered 25187 from the Presidency of the Higher Education Council.
Degree Awarded
Graduates who successfully complete the programme receive a Bachelor's Degree in Gerontology and the title of "Gerontologist".

Admission and Registration Requirements
The department has not yet begun accepting students. (When student admissions commence, students will be accepted based on the relevant score type and central placement system determined by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM)).
Rules Regarding the Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Informal, Non-Formal)
The recognition of prior non-formal and formal education in higher education institutions in Turkey is carried out within the framework of the Higher Education Council regulations. The adaptation rules determined by the university senate apply to students transferring horizontally and vertically.
Eligibility Requirements and Rules
Students must pass all course units in the curriculum, including theoretical courses and practical applications specified in the education and training regulations.
Programme Profile
The Gerontology department approaches ageing not merely as the elderly stage of life, but as a lifelong process beginning at birth. The fundamental aim of the programme is to produce graduates who are: Specialised in active ageing and quality of life, topics that have gained importance with the increase in the elderly population; Capable of analysing not only the physiological but also the social, psychological, economic and cultural needs of the elderly; Produce supportive policies enabling individuals to continue their lives without being isolated from social life or dependent on others, Train well-equipped "Gerontologists" who can provide consultancy at every level of community management and manage implementation processes.
Employment Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Gerontology department can be employed in both practitioner and managerial positions in the following institutions under the title of "Gerontologist": Nursing Homes Retirement Homes Geriatric Centres in Hospitals
Transition to Higher Degree Programmes
Graduates who successfully complete their undergraduate education can pursue Master's and Doctoral programmes in their own field or in related interdisciplinary fields, provided they obtain a valid score on the ALES exam and meet the required foreign language proficiency.
Examinations, Assessment and Evaluation
Within the framework of the general academic calendar and regulations, evaluation is based on the weighted averages of mid-year assessments (mid-term exams, assignments, projects, etc.) and end-of-year assessments (final exams, make-up exams).
Graduation Requirements
Successfully completing the courses included in the curriculum during the 4-year Bachelor's degree programme, earning a total of 240 ECTS credits, and achieving the required grade point average.

Department Facilities
